After being laid off of her job as a magazine publisher at 50 years old, Michele Aikens couldn’t find a job for two years despite having decades of experience and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. One day a former student asked her how to start a magazine and 90-minutes of insight and advice came out of that phone call. Aikens realized that if she had knowledge at 50 that could help someone start a business, so did other 50+ women who had lost their jobs.
Sepia Prime Woman was created to help women over 50 turn their knowledge and experience into businesses, authorships and consulting opportunities. Since starting the company in 2009, the clientele includes not only women over 50, but younger women and men who are choosing to embrace entrepreneurship at an early age. In 2018 the name was changed to Sepia Prime Communications & Coaching to reflect the new clientele.
Michele has most recently become a certified life coach. She added this offering because in meeting clients she realized most issues were not about “what”, but “why”. The emphasis on coaching helps both business and individuals to courageously embrace growth and change. As CEO of Sepia Prime Communication & Coaching, Aikens impacts leaders and their teams through customized workshops and coaching sessions.”
